April has somehow built a career out of her passion for spooky pop culture. (Her obsession with The Facts of Life has thus far been less productive, but she remains hopeful.) She’s a staff writer for Rue Morgue Magazine, a project editor and contributor for the popular Rue Morgue Library, and a contributing editor for the International Thriller Writers’ The Big Thrill. In 2015, April joined the lineup of creators for the audio drama series Tales From Beyond the Pale, an Entertainment Weekly “Must List” pick that has been featured on NPR and in The New York Times. Her first book is slated for publication in 2018.

Three things to know about April:
- She lives in Tennessee with her long-suffering wife and a quartet of recalcitrant dogs and cats.
- As a pop culture journalist, she’s dedicated to celebrating the work of female creators in the horror genre.
- She’s still a little reluctant to look out her window at night in case Danny Glick is there.

Five books she loves:
Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury
We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson
Carpe Jugulum by Terry Pratchett
Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark by Alvin Schwartz (The original edition with the Stephen Gammell illustrations, of course.)
